The Heritage Society was established to recognize alumni and friends who generously make a bequest or a planned gift of any amount for the benefit of Illinois State University. Planned gifts can be designated for unrestricted use or restricted to a particular fund, scholarship, program, or project at the University that interests you.
By establishing a planned gift to benefit Illinois State University you demonstrate your confidence in ISU and the value of our education experience. As of June 30, 2020, more than $92 million in planned gift commitments from alumni and friends are in place to benefit Illinois State University. The commitments help ensure a bright future for ISU students, faculty, staff, and programs.
How does it work?Membership in the Heritage Society is reserved for those who have named Illinois State as a beneficiary of their estate or have made a planned gift to benefit ISU. As a Heritage Society member, you join a distinguished group of people who share a common vision for the future of Illinois State and believe in our mission. We currently have close to 400 members of the Heritage Society.
To assist with your plans, the office of planned giving can provide a sample bequest or planned giving language for the program or area that best fits your charitable interests at Illinois State.
The details of your plans are confidential. We will not release gift information or publish your name without your consent. You may also decline membership in the Heritage Society or request anonymity.
Please keep in mind ISU prefers bequests and planned gifts be administered through the Illinois State University Foundation and that you specify "Illinois State University Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation located in Normal, Illinois" in your documents. The ISU Foundation's tax identification number is 37-6025713.
